Okay so we don’t any processed foods around here…So how do we eat frugally?
Shopping at different stores.
If I could only pick 2 stores in the Southeast to shop at. It would be Aldi’s and Publix.
However I do get to pick more. So here is what I buy and where I buy. I did a pricebook 4 years ago (Tightwad Gazette, its a great book to learn from) and started analyzing what I spend per ounce or unit. I highly recommend this process. I took some filler paper and wrote down DAIRY, FLOUR, VEGETABLES, BREAD etc. And then every time I was in a store, I would try and write down the prices or forget my book and scratch into the back of my little paper phone directory. If all else fails, just pull out all your receipts for the past month and sit down in front of the cabinet looking at the # of ounces in each item.
Here is a crash course of where to buy what if you want to cheat and see mine. The 2nd price is the 2nd best option…..
Yes I go to many places, but places like Trader Joes and Whole Foods I only go once a month.
