Why do they call you “Zombiemommy”? I was asked this twice last week and I thought I would comment. Well I don’t sleep and haven’t really slept much in the past 6 years. Last night was a common example. 1am, 2am, 3a and 5am. Those are all times I was woken up. 3 times by the baby one time because of bad dreams of my 2nd oldest. That being said, I love my kids, I just sleepwalk sometimes:) Or sleepyell, if I am especially deprived.
And here are some books I have read in the past couple of years. Be frugal and check your library first!
The Complete Tightwad Gazette. It merely started as a newsletter full of frugal tips and ideas. Within a couple of years the newsletters get so popular she just compiled into one big book. This book inspired me to not only try cloth diapering but even make diapers out of political tshirts! I learned how to turn leftovers into a quiche and a casserole. The only downfall is that this is written in the 80’s, so her view on couponing is outdated. This was the beginning of my search into the practicality of living off one income.
The Busy Mom’s Guide to Simple Living This book inspired me to make my own granola and bread and to think ahead when it comes to planning meals. She also helped create the idea (besides my sister) within me that I could be a stay at home mom.
Living More With Less This book made me think about the environment and being simple. It also makes you think of the wastefulness trap that is called convenience. When better planning might be able to kill two birds… that you can then turn into compost.
