You CAN! An Introduction of the Basics of Canning $85 Be ready for this summer bounty from the Green Market! YOU CAN! Taught by Canning Expert, Lyn Deardorff This is a complete four-hour hands-on workshop that will give you the basics of food preservation using the most popular method: water-bath canning. The class will prepare three kinds of the most popular canning products, and will depend on the seasonal varieties offered: a fruit, a tomato, and a pickle. Working in teams of two, the class will start with an informational session including the proper and safe handling of foods, followed by the preparation and cooking of the various products and processing in canning jars. A wrap-up session will conclude the class. All students will leave with a notebook of the standards of canning along with recipes of the products canned and a jar of each product, 3 jars in all. All supplies are included. $85.00 per four-hour workshop.
