Free 16oz of Virgin Coconut Oil w/free shipping from the Tropical Traditions. This is the good stuff! Its a deal for new customers only. Go here to get yours... I have never ordered from here before (even though most people do, because this can be rather expensive stuff). We buy our organic coconut oil at the Dekalb Farmers’ Market, 64oz for $10.99. A great great deal!
I learned about coconut oil through Weston Price Foundation.
WPF is about using traditional foods to be healthy. There is a great cooking forum here that talks a lot about using Traditional Foods.
In ZombieMommy’s Kitchen……..
We use only olive oil, butter and coconut oil to cook with around here.
We do not use canola, vegetable oils, etc.
Coconut oil is excellent for popcorn, bread, granola, sauteing meats, frying (well frying isn’t really good for you) fish, etc. It tastes great in Asian and Indian dishes because it does impart a little flavor (not always, but sometimes). And recently I made a normal American roast beef using coconut oil and the kids loved the flavor!
Recently I have also found at our local Whole Foods a non-rbst butter for $2.49 a pound.
Cheaper than organic but better than grocery chain stuff….
The best priced olive oil I have found is at Sam’s. 64oz for around $11.00. I also buy in a pinch (read end of the month and end of the paycheck) Trader Joe’s Olive Oil 32oz for $5.99.
